For many of a certain age, Scalextric is a name to remember from the 60s and 70s. It appeared to die a death just like so many things of that era. But the Scalextric pursuit has been alive and well for many years under a different name, aka Slot Car Racing. And when Crowland Links member "drowlett" posted in the forum, we realised that Slot Car racing is alive and well and living in Crowland.

David Rowlett is a data storage team leader working in the communications industry. He's been follower and fan of Slot Car racing for many years. So much so, that David is hoping to start a "Scalextric" club in Crowland.

I was approached a couple of weeks ago by a friend who asked if I would run a track for her son's birthday," says David. "And being a soft touch, I didn't want to say no." And from this beginning his friend has helped to provide access to the Scout Hut, and the hall, in order to try out David's idea for a Slot Car club in Crowland.

You can help to support David's idea by contacting him here through the Crowland Links Forum and through the Crowland Links Groups (Scalextric Club). Or if you want to contact us directly, then we'll be pleased to pass on the information.
